Amputee Outpatient Therapy

Unlike any other rehabilitation patient, an amputee has experienced a profound and life altering loss, a loss that is visible and permanent. Our caring team enables an amputee to resume an unprecedented level of normal activity; restoring mobility, confidence and vitality to those who have experienced loss of a limb.

Our Outpatient Services are designed for those who have recently sustained an amputation or assumed use of a new prosthetic device. Our patients learn to live with their artificial limb in every sense of the way. Using various forms of treatment, including aquatic, physical and occupational therapy, we help our patients adjust to the artificial limb both emotionally and physically. Special amputee clinics conducted several times weekly involve Physicians, Physical Therapists and Prosthetists, who collaborate in our patients' rehabilitation process.

For those patients who are not yet ready for a prosthesis or who may not be candidates for a limb still have a many skills to learn and perfect. Our specially trained Physical and Occupational Therapists will work with you on an individual basis. We develop an understanding your current level of accomplishment and provide the strategies you need to become safe and more proficient in all your daily activities.

There is the availability of a variety of counseling services, including an Amputee Support Group, which meets the first Saturday of each month. Call 781-348-2289 for further information.
